and...I could hardly wait for the new 2011 catalog to arrive! So when it showed up in my mailbox last weekend, I just had to curl up in my comfy chair with a pad of sticky notes and a cuppa latté and browse to my heart's content.
And that's how I came up with MY IKEA favorite things:
| Alvine Örter 3-piece Duvet Set, $19.99 queen size |
| Alvine Parla Lampshade, $12.00 11" dia. |
| Skimra Lampshade in green, $5.00 11" h. |
These items will look lovely for the new look I am working on (slowly but surely) in my bedroom. The duvet cover is 100% cotton and will look awesome for my winter look when I actually use my duvet.
The lampshade coordinates but is not the exact print of the duvet cover and will look fab on my floor lamp. The Skimra shades will look awesome in the green shade on the exact lamps shown in the photo.
| Laiva desk, $20.00 |
| Laiva Bookcase, $25.00 |
| Bräda Laptop Support, $2.49 (also comes in black) |
| Jansjö LED Lamp, $9.99 |
| Kassett CD Storage Boxes, $3.99/2pack (also in white) |
The desk and bookcase are the IKEA black-brown color and at such an amazing price that I can justify Freecycling away my current desk ( IKEA circa 2000) and plastic storage rolly thing with drawers that is equally ancient! The other lovelies are to accessorize the "office area" which is actually a small corner of my bedroom.
The Jansjö desk lamp is LED and supposed to last 25 years. I use the Kassett boxes for stuff other than CDs. They look great and come with the holder for labels. I'll probably buy them in both the green and the white and mix those in with the grey ones I already have. The Bräda laptop supports are so cute and inexpensive I might just pick up one in each color.
| Bärbar Tray, $5.99 13" sq. |
| Herräng Candle Holder, $14.99 14" h. (also in yellow & pink) |
| Gislev Area Rug, $19.99 6'5"x4'4" |
| Lidan Baskets, $14.99/set of 4 |
| Spontan Magnet Board, $9.99 22.5" dia. |
My living room is primarily various shades of blue so I am always on the hunt for things that can accessorize within the color scheme. I definitely want a few of the trays as we sometimes eat in that area and my coffee table is actually a very large storage ottoman.
I collect art glass--it's one of my passions. I think the tall candle holder will look fab on my mantel. Gotta have two of the Gislev rugs, they're so pretty in that blue grey.
The Lidan baskets might fit in somewhere in the bathroom or my wardrobe space. And the magnet board could go in the kitchen, the entry or my little office space. I haven't decided yet. The Spontan line also includes magnets and a set of 3"x4"x2"d boxes that can hold "stuff". And we all know we have "stuff".
